EDI system (Electrodeionization) in water treatment technology
Definition: EDI, namely continuous electro-deionization technology, also known as electrodeionization technology, scientifically integrates electrodialysis technology and ion exchange technology. Through the selective permeation of cations and anions by cation and anion membranes and the exchange of ions in water by ion exchange resins, the directional migration of ions in water is achieved under the action of the electric field, thereby achieving deep purification and desalination of water. Working principle: Under the action of the DC electric field, the dielectric ions in the water move in a directional manner. Through the partition, the anion membrane, the cation membrane and the partition are arranged alternately to form a concentrated chamber and a dilute chamber. The cations in the dilute chamber migrate to the negative electrode and pass through the cation membrane, and are intercepted by the anion membrane in the concentrated chamber; the anions migrate to the positive electrode and pass through the anion membrane, and are intercepted by the cation membrane in the concentrated chamber. In this way, the number of ions in the dilute chamber gradually decreases and becomes fresh water, while the water in the concentrated chamber becomes concentrated water due to the continuous increase in ion concentration, realizing the desalination, purification, concentration or refinement of water.
